Atlanta's DJ Mix Master Mitch Dead of Pancreatic Cancer

Gary Mitchell (aka DJ Mix Master Mitch)

Sad to report the death of veteran Atlanta air personality Gary Mitchell (aka DJ Mix Master Mitch) Tuesday morning after a battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Mitchell was 56. According to WSB-TV, DJ Mix Master Mitch was born at Grady Memorial Hospital and grew up in Atlanta. He graduated from Mays High School in 1983 and began his decades-long radio career. Mitchell entertained audiences on KISS 104.1 and Classix 102.9.

"I've always been an entertainer. I've always loved the microphone ya know I would get out there with promotions and get on the mic and act crazy and people would laugh," Mitchell told Channel 2 Action News earlier this year.

WSB reports that as of Wednesday morning, memorial arrangements for Mitchell have not been announced.
