RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, February 22, 2022 |
The Arkansas Radio Network will sign off next month after more than fifty years of broadcasting news, sports, and farm market reports, according to Arkansas Business. The Cumulus Media-owned network is based at KARN in Little Rock. PD Toby Howell sent an e-mail to its 18 affiliates to inform them that the network will be ending its programming on March 20, but provided no reason for shutting down.
"We have appreciated the opportunity to serve your news and information needs, and we will continue to do so for the next 30 days so that you may transition to a new service," wrote Howell.
The network, which launched in 1967 as the Delta Farm Network, an early-morning program by popular KARK-FM Farm News Director Bob Buice, was was heard on nearly 70 Arkansas radio stations in the 1980's.
