Michigan Radio Names Matt Shafer Powell Program Director

WFYI Public Media/Indianapolis names Chief Content Officer Matt Shafer Powell as Program Director of Michigan Radio, beginning June 6. He replaces Zoe Clark, who moves to Director of Content, overseeing the daily talk show "Stateside" along with other public affairs programming. Powell began his radio career as a reporter at Michigan Radio in the West Michigan Bureau and served as Director of News Content at the University of Tennessee's WUOT/Knoxville.

Executive Director and GM Steve Schram said, "We are pleased to welcome Matt Shafer Powell to Michigan Radio as our Program Director. During our national search for this position, Matt's decades of proven and respected leadership in public media made an impression on our team. In addition, he demonstrates a commitment to strategic vision, audience engagement, and a robust dedication to serving the community. His experience and enthusiasm will combine to grow the impact and future of Michigan Radio."
