Bristol Broadcasting Country WXBQ/Johnson City's Bill Hagy has been elected as a member of the "Career Class of 2022" by the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame. He's set to be honored at the group's annual banquet on Saturday, August 6 in Murfreesboro, TN. Fellow honorees include Thunderbolt Radio President and GM and News/Talk WCMT/Martin, TN morning host Paul Freeman Tinkle and sports broadcasters George Plaster & Larry Ward.
According to the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame website, Hagy retired after 50 years with the same company in 2015 exactly 50 years to the day he started. During his stint as PD for WXBQ, which lasted 37 years, the station maintained a streak of 81 consecutive #1 ratings periods with market shares often nearing a 30. Kenny Chesney credited Hagy with helping his career in the beginning. He was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame last year.
