Dallas-Fort Worth morning personality Mark "Hawkeye" Louis, host of "Hawkeye In The Morning" on KSCS-FM (New Country 96.3), was honored with an official proclamation from the city of Fort Worth for a tree-planting campaign that he started 25 years ago along Fort Worth's historic Camp Bowie Boulevard. The city beautification campaign was so successful that Hawkeye's trees now create a leafy green canopy along the picturesque thoroughfare, enjoyed by the community and visitors alike.

On March 29, 2023, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and Fort Worth City Council Member Michael D. Crain presented Hawkeye with the Proclamation honoring his efforts and marking the 25th Anniversary of the Camp Bowie Tree Project. The official Proclamation reads:

"Whereas, Over the last 25 years, Camp Bowie Boulevard has become a beautiful tree-lined street thanks to many citizens who donated to the project and the efforts spearheaded by one local DJ, Mark "Hawkeye" Louis of 96.3 KSCS, with the surrounding community benefiting from the improvements now and the continued beautification of Camp Bowie Boulevard. Now Therefore: The City of Fort Worth does hereby recognize and proclaim the 29th of March 2023: 25th Anniversary of the Camp Bowie Tree Project."

Louis said, "When I started the tree adoption program and campaign in 1997, Camp Bowie Boulevard, Fort Worth's last brick road, had a wide, bare median. I went to work getting donors to adopt trees and by 1998, we raised the necessary funds to make my crazy dream a reality, and the planting began. 25 years later, Camp Bowie Boulevard is known for its miles of mature majestic oak trees that shade this historic street."

He added, "I couldn't be prouder of what we were able to do together - and I can't believe that 25 years have passed since we started this passion project! I thank all our supporters for helping to make the dream a beautiful reality that we can all enjoy for many years to come."

Hawkeye has hosted the "Hawkeye In The Morning" show for over 30 years. The show airs Monday through Friday from 5:30-10am on New Country 96.3 and is the longest-running FM show in Dallas-Fort Worth. Hawkeye was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2020 and has been awarded Billboard Magazine's Radio Personality of the Year and the Academy of Country Music's Major Market Personality of the Year.
