Peter and the Acid King |
iHeartPodcasts and Imagine Audio launches "Peter and the Acid King," a new true crime podcast that dives deep into the grimy, chaotic world of the Los Angeles punk scene in the early '80s to tell the little known story of the brutal murder of New Wave Theater TV host Peter Ivers. A fixture of the LA punk scene, Ivers hosted free-for-all sets from L.A. punk bands on New Wave Theater, including Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, 45 Grave and the Angry Samoans. He opened for Fleetwood Mac and co-wrote with director David Lynch. And then, in March, 1983, Ivers was found dead in his sixth floor apartment.
This 10-part series, narrated by punk historian, esteemed director and Ivers' friend, Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization, "Wayne's World") sheds light on Peter Iver's rise to fame as the dynamic performer and artist known for bringing punk rock to TV, and attempts to make sense of the bizarre circumstances surrounding his murder, which remains unsolved after all these years.
"Peter and the Acid King" is a co-production of iHeartPodcasts and Imagine Audio.
