WZLX/Boston Morning Host Kevin Karlson Dies Unexpectly

Classic Rock WZLX/Boston morning host Kevin Karlson died suddenly in his sleep on Thursday night. He was 59. Karlson also with co-hosts Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford have aired in mornings on iHeartMedia's WZLX since 2005. Karlson and McKenzie had been teamed together since 1985, airing previously at WEGQ (Eagle 93.7) in Boston. He also worked at WYYS in Charleston, WZNE in Rochester, WRVQ in Richmond, WIOT in Toledo and KAYI in Tulsa.

The station wrote, "It is with great sadness that 100.7 WZLX shares news of the unexpected passing of our friend, Kevin Karlson. For almost 20 years, Kevin helped wake up Boston with humor and classic rock. We invite you to share your memories of Kevin as we celebrate his life. From all of us at WZLX -- Rock in peace, Kevin." Loyal listeners were calling up the radio station to share their memories of Karlson, saying their mornings won't be the same without Karlson.
