Cumulus Media appoints Todd Cavanah to the newly created position of Vice President of Classic Hits for the company. He'll provide content counsel for its 24 Classic Hits-formatted brands across the U.S. Cavanah will continue to be based in Chicago where he serves as Program Director for Classic Hits WLS-FM. He joined the company and WLS-FM last October, after 33 years at crosstown Audacy CHR WBBM-FM (B96), where he was named Program Director in 1993.
Cavanah also served as VP/Programming for CBS Radio Chicago and Audacy Chicago and programmed Country station, WUSN-FM (US 99), Classic Hits WJMK-FM (104.3 K-Hits) and Classic Hip Hop WBMX-FM (104.3 Jams). Prior to Chicago, Cavanah held positions at KRXY-FM in Denver and at Elektra Records.
Cumulus Media Chief Content Officer Brian Philips said, "Todd Cavanah is a respected long-time winner, and a force of nature. He has radically re-energized WLS-FM, putting it back on top in Chicago. Todd is a natural fit to lead our Classic Hits formats, a prime example of the caliber of talent that Cumulus can bring to our most competitive markets."
Cavanah commented, "It has been just over a year since I landed at Cumulus, and I am proud of the job our team has done taking 94.7 WLS to the top of the Chicago ratings. I am grateful to the company for allowing me the freedom to reinvent the Classic Hits format, and I'm eager to collaborate with the Cumulus fleet."
