Cumulus Media's 92.5 KJJY hosted its annual Two Days of Compassion Radiothon on December 10th and 11th, raising $149,335 for Variety -- The Children's Charity. The event, broadcast live from Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, also succeeded in distributing 597 teddy bears to children in local hospitals. From 6am to 6pm over two days, the staff at 92.5 KJJY rallied community members to support the cause.

The funds raised will benefit Variety's Compassion Fund, which assists families with hospitalized children at Mercy Des Moines and Blank Children's Hospital. This fund allows social workers to provide immediate financial relief to families facing hardships during their child's hospital stay. Support can range from gas cards and meals to utility bill aid and even birthday cakes for children unable to celebrate at home.

KJJY Program Director Andrew Vonahnen praised his team's efforts, highlighting the roles of Tony Conrad, Chad Taylor and Jacob Beals in connecting with the audience and sharing impactful stories from Variety of Iowa.

Cumulus Des Moines Vice President and Market Manager Jack Taddeo reflected on the generosity of the community: "Just when you think the world has become totally self-absorbed, our KJJY fans step up and put the kids first. We love partnering with Variety of Iowa because they get the job done for kids and families in Central Iowa and across the state."

For those interested in supporting Variety - The Children's Charity and the Compassion Fund, donations can be made at Variety Iowa's Compassion Fund.
