In a remarkable display of community spirit and generosity, News Talk 1110 & 99.3 WBT/Charlotte, in collaboration with Moments of Hope Church, has successfully raised over $300,000 during the 2024 holiday season. This significant contribution marks a cumulative total of more than $1 million raised since the inception of the City of Hope CLT campaign in 2020, aimed at assisting the needy in the Charlotte region and Western North Carolina.

The campaign, which began as a response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, was initiated by David Chadwick, Senior Pastor of Moments of Hope Church and host of The David Chadwick Show on WBT. "Back in 2020, amidst the Covid crisis, Bo Thompson, Pat McCrory, and I were discussing how we could make a tangible difference for those struggling in our community," Chadwick explained. "Our church's generous spirit combined with WBT's broad audience led to a matching gift initiative that has significantly expanded over the years."

Under this partnership, WBT and Moments of Hope Church have not only provided meals to children in need but also extended their support to the victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina last year. "It is more blessed to give than to receive, and it has been profoundly fulfilling to leverage our resources for the betterment of our community," added Chadwick.

Mike Schaefer, WBT's Program Director, emphasized the station's long-standing commitment to local leadership and community service. "For nearly 103 years, WBT has been an integral part of Charlotte's community fabric, striving to address the needs of the vulnerable among us," Schaefer said.

Marsha Landess, Radio One Charlotte and Richmond RVP/General Manager, also praised the ongoing efforts: "This partnership exemplifies the strength of our community and what we can achieve together. Raising over $1 million is a testament to our collective commitment to making a difference, especially during times of crisis."
