In a surprising turn of events on January 13, 2025, veteran radio host Bob Lacey of the syndicated morning show Bob & Sheri, announced his retirement live on-air. Lacey, who has been a familiar voice on the radio for four decades, including 32 years alongside co-host Sheri Lynch, decided that it was time to step away from the microphone.

The announcement came as a shock to listeners and colleagues alike. "We knew this day was going to come, we just didn't know it would be today," said Tony Garcia, Co-Founder of Now! Media, which syndicates the show. Despite the sudden news, Garcia assures that the program will continue to thrive with Lynch and the morning team, consisting of Lamar Richardson, Max Sweeten, and Kary Bowser.

During his farewell announcement, Lacey shared a moment of candid reflection about his reasons for retiring, which highlighted a growing disconnect with contemporary pop culture. "I was listening to some promo on the air the other day on television, and they mentioned Jelly Roll, Bunny XO, Doja Cat and Zendaya. I have absolutely no idea who those people are," Lacey explained. This realization prompted his decision to retire rather than risk becoming out of touch on-air.

Lynch expressed deep emotion regarding Lacey's departure. "No one has worked harder and contributed more creativity, vision, and strategy than Bob," Lynch stated. "I could not be more proud of him and honored to have been his partner. I'm weepy to see him go."

The show, which is broadcasted to over 65 radio stations in the U.S. and to 170 countries via the American Forces Radio, promises to maintain the quality and engagement that listeners have come to expect. Garcia reiterated the commitment to the show's fans, emphasizing that Bob & Sheri will continue to be a listener-first program.
