Topic Studios in collaboration with iHeartPodcasts is set to launch a new fiction podcast series entitled "Cancellation Island," created by John Cameron Mitchell and Michael Cavadias. The series premieres on Sunday, February 9, with episodes releasing weekly across all major audio platforms, including the iHeartRadio app.

The podcast series will be introduced during an exclusive listening party on February 4 at The Bell House in Brooklyn, New York. "Cancellation Island" promises a comedic yet pointed exploration of cancel culture, where canceled personalities undergo rehabilitation on an island dominated by celebrity scandals and social media mishaps.

Described by John Cameron Mitchell as a "zany 30 Rock-like leftie satire," the series features a diverse cast of characters led by a fictitious Karen and her Gen-Z therapist staff. With a motto of "What we lack in life experience, we make for in certainty," the island serves as a last resort for those seeking redemption when a simple apology won't suffice.

The ensemble cast includes Holly Hunter as the lead character KAREN, with supporting roles portrayed by Josh Pais, Erin Markey, K. Todd Freeman, and others. Mitchell directs the series, which he co-writes and produces with Michael Cavadias, bringing to life a narrative filled with dark humor and peculiar twists involving conspiracy theories and secret societies.

Christy Gressman, Vice President of Podcasts at Topic Studios, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting its innovative approach to scripted podcasting. The series marks another collaboration between Mitchell and Topic Studios, following the acclaimed musical dark-comedy podcast "Anthem: Homunculus."
