Tom Kraeutler, the host of the popular home improvement radio show "Money Pit," has passed away due to complications following a recent surgery. Kraeutler was an esteemed craftsman and educator, and also served as the inaugural chair of New Jersey's regulatory authority for home inspector licensing. His radio show, which provided expert advice to homeowners, was broadcast on over 450 stations nationwide for more than 26 years.

Following his passing, Squeaky Door Productions, the company behind "Money Pit," is considering its future leadership. However, the show will continue to air with Leslie Segrete, Kraeutler's co-host, temporarily taking the helm. Segrete, who also co-authored two books with Kraeutler, expressed deep personal loss. "Tom was there for my family's significant moments; he supported me through my husband's death and helped me return to work. He was more than a colleague; he was like family to me," she reflected.

"Money Pit Home Improvement Show" remains a key source of DIY guidance and professional advice, reaching listeners across major U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Boston. The show's success is attributed to a growing interest in home improvement content among radio stations and advertisers, particularly over weekends when many homeowners plan and execute projects.

Kraeutler built his reputation on over 20 years of experience as a professional home inspector, conducting more than 6,000 home inspections. His expertise made him a sought-after contributor on networks like Fox Business, CNN, and MSNBC. Segrete, with her background in interior design, carpentry, and more, complements the duo's dynamic, providing accessible, practical advice to their audience.

Tom Kraeutler leaves behind his wife, Susan, and their three children.
