The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced the continuation of its funding through a Continuing Resolution (CR) passed by both the House and Senate for Fiscal Year 2025. The legislation secures $535 million for CPB for Fiscal Year 2027, maintaining the two-year advance appropriation standard for public media.

Patricia Harrison, President and CEO of CPB, expressed her gratitude towards Congress's bipartisan support. "We appreciate the bipartisan support from Congress on behalf of the more than 1,500 local public media stations across the nation," Harrison stated.

Public media operates as a public-private partnership within the U.S., leveraging every public dollar to generate nearly seven times that amount from donors. Harrison highlighted the efficient and beneficial nature of this model, stating, "Public media in the United States is a highly efficient public-private partnership that delivers a strong return on the taxpayers' investment. For every public dollar provided, stations raise nearly seven dollars from donors, underscoring their value to the communities they serve."

The funding aims to support CPB's commitment to educational content, local reporting, public safety information, and technological advancements to enhance engagement across various platforms. "With the support of Congress and the American people, CPB will continue to prioritize educational content and resources for families, provide essential local reporting and public safety information, and pursue technology advancements that enhance public media's connection with audiences across multiple platforms," Harrison affirmed.
