"Lava for Good," named ADWEEK's 2024 Podcast Network of the Year, and iHeartPodcasts have announced the renewal of their multi-year partnership. This renewal comes after a remarkable year for Lava for Good, with its leaders being recognized for their significant social impact.
In 2024, Lava for Good's CEO and co-founder, Jason Flom, along with Pulitzer Prize-winning host Maggie Freleng, were honored with the iHeartPodcast Social Impact Icon Award. This award was given in recognition of the "Wrongful Conviction" series, which has not only led to actual exonerations but has also spurred legislative changes in three states, marking a notable impact in the realm of criminal legal reform.
Lava for Good's partnership with iHeartPodcasts has proven fruitful, with over 70 million downloads and a series of top-charting shows. The network plans to release new seasons of "Bone Valley" and "The War on Drugs," continue its weekly episodes of "Wrongful Conviction," and expand its repertoire with several new series set to launch in 2025. Among the anticipated releases is a new docuseries by Maggie Freleng and a series exploring the history and effects of Taser use, bodycams, and tech-driven policing.
Jason Flom expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership's renewal, stating, "At Lava for Good, we believe in the power of bold storytelling to captivate audiences and provide new perspectives on provocative issues. Our partnerships with iHeart and our stellar hosts allow us to expand our slate with new shows that will keep audiences hooked and take them deeper into stories they won't hear anywhere else."
Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts, highlighted the unique value Lava for Good brings to the podcasting landscape. "Lava for Good has built a remarkable track record of delivering stories that not only engage but resonate long after the episode ends," said Pearson. "Their ability to blend sharp true crime analysis with deep investigative work makes them a standout in the podcasting space. We're thrilled to continue our partnership and bring even more compelling narratives to listeners in 2025 and beyond."
All Lava For Good podcasts will be available on the iHeartRadio app and all major podcast listening platforms.
