iHeartMedia and The Black Effect Podcast Network are celebrating a major milestone as "The Breakfast Club" podcast has officially surpassed one billion downloads - placing it among an elite group of podcasts to reach the billion mark.

DJ Envy, one of the show's longtime co-hosts, acknowledged the accomplishment as more than just a numeric feat. "A billion views is more than just a number - it's a testament to the culture, the conversations, and the community we've built together," he said.

Launched in 2010 on WWPR (Power 105.1) in New York, The Breakfast Club quickly rose to national prominence with its mix of candid conversation, celebrity interviews, and unfiltered takes on music, politics, and pop culture. Now hosted by DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, and Charlamagne Tha God, the show has featured a wide array of high-profile guests, including former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Jay-Z, Cardi B, Kevin Hart, and many others.

Charlamagne Tha God credited the show's success to its authenticity and willingness to engage directly with issues impacting the Black community. "Whether we're talking hip hop, politics, or mental health, we've never been afraid to embrace the real issues that matter," he said. "Gratitude to our listeners."

Syndicated since 2013, The Breakfast Club is heard on over 100 stations across major markets such as Houston, Atlanta, Miami, and Detroit. In addition to its daily broadcast, the team hosts Weekends with The Breakfast Club, a countdown show of the week's top 20 hits, and the replay podcast which helped fuel its billion-download tally.

"This show is a cultural force that has captivated audiences for nearly 15 years, and it's only getting bigger and bolder," said Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia.

In 2020, the podcast became the flagship show for the launch of The Black Effect Podcast Network, co-founded by Charlamagne and iHeartMedia, which has since grown into a leading platform for Black creators, featuring more than 40 shows across a range of topics from mental health to comedy to social justice.

Recognized with accolades including induction into the Radio Hall of Fame and a 2020 iHeartPodcast Award for Best Pop Culture Podcast, The Breakfast Club continues to influence conversations across the culture. The show and its extended podcast family are available on the iHeartRadio app and wherever podcasts are heard.
