Public radio veteran Briana O'Higgins has joined Paragon as its new Organizational Insights Consultant, bringing experience in digital transformation, audience development, and nonprofit media operations. In her new role, O'Higgins will work with public media organizations to streamline operations and reset internal structures amid increasing financial challenges.
Paragon CEO Mike Henry said O'Higgins' background makes her well-suited to help stations navigate this critical moment for public media. "I've worked with Briana at several stations for many years and know that she is the perfect person to help public media companies reduce inefficiencies for a stronger sustainable future," said Henry. "Through data-based decisions, we can help stations increase public service, reduce expenses, grow revenue, and redirect funds to areas that will move the needle - like local journalism, podcasting, and community building."
O'Higgins added, "Public media is evolving, and with that comes an opportunity to strengthen the systems and structures that support its mission. I am honored to join Paragon to help stations align strategy with capacity - clarifying roles, improving operations, and ensuring teams are equipped to serve their communities with impact."
She will continue consulting for North Texas Public Broadcasting and Greater Public while based in Kansas City.
O'Higgins has held leadership roles in audience development at KCUR in Kansas City and KERA in Dallas, including oversight of KERA TV, Triple A station KXT, and classical outlet WRR. She also served as a coach for the Poynter Institute's Table Stakes digital transformation program. Her career includes work as a public radio reporter and host, and she holds a master's degree in documentary studies.
