iHeartMedia Pittsburgh names two-time Super Bowl champion and former Steelers lineman Max Starks as the new color commentator for the Steelers Audio Network game day broadcasts. Starks, who has been part of the Steelers Audio Network broadcast team since 2021, moves up from his role as sideline analyst to join Rob King in the booth for play-by-play coverage. Missi Matthews will continue as sideline reporter, providing game day insights from the field.
In addition to game coverage, Starks and King will co-host In The Locker Room, airing weekdays from 10am-noon during the season on Steelers Nation Radio and FOX Sports Pittsburgh (970AM).
"We're thrilled to elevate Max Starks into the broadcast booth," said Bobbie Loesch, Market President for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh. "Max brings a championship mindset, deep football knowledge, and an authentic connection with Steelers Nation. His transition from the sideline to the booth is a natural progression, and we're confident that fans will love the insight and energy he brings to every broadcast."
Starks added, "I am honored to move from the sidelines into the booth for our game day broadcasts. Thanks to Art Rooney II, the Steelers organization and iHeartMedia for the opportunity. There is a long and proud history that I look forward to continuing. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the men who preceded me, and I hope to bring the same level of excitement and insight that Steelers fans have come to expect."
The Steelers Audio Network delivers game day coverage, original programming, digital audio, podcasts, and social media content throughout the year. Fans can listen across multiple platforms including 102.5 WDVE, 970AM Fox Sports Pittsburgh, Steelers Nation Radio, the Steelers and iHeartRadio mobile apps, and both team and station websites.
