Podcast Movement and Sounds Profitable

Sounds Profitable, a trade association for the podcasting industry, has merged with Podcast Movement, a global platform for podcast creators and industry leaders. The strategic partnership brings together two influential organizations in podcasting, combining research, events, and thought leadership under one umbrella.

As part of the seven-figure agreement, Podcast Movement will acquire Sounds Profitable, which will continue to operate as a trade association focused on industry research and insights. Sounds Profitable founders Bryan Barletta and Tom Webster will remain shareholders, with Barletta stepping into the role of President of Podcast Movement and the continuing Sounds Profitable brand.

The merger strengthens Podcast Movement's presence at major media industry events including Cannes Lions, SXSW, The Podcast Show London, and Advertising Week. It also expands the group's role as a central force in podcasting's growth.

"This merger unites two leading organizations that have, until now, independently been both champions and catalysts, supporting the growth of the entire podcasting industry," said Barletta. "As we take these next steps together, we'll be able to amplify our mission to connect creators, brands, and innovators while providing an unmatched event experience."

Podcast Movement co-founder Dan Franks will continue as President of Event Movement, the production company behind Podcast Movement conferences, which will now also support Sounds Profitable's branded events.

"Over the past decade, the podcast industry has evolved in ways few could have imagined when we launched Podcast Movement in 2014," said Franks. "Sounds Profitable's forward-thinking vision and commitment to moving the industry forward create an incredible opportunity for Podcast Movement to grow and adapt alongside that evolution."

Podcast Movement's flagship event is set to take place in New York City for the first time in September 2026, while its Podcast Movement Evolutions conference will be integrated into SXSW for an expanded experience.
