Veteran programmer Jerry McKenna is heading back to Cape Cod to take the reins as Program Director of GCJH Inc.'s Classic Hits outlet "Cape Cod's X," which airs on WGTX-FM (102.3) in Truro and translator W268CP (106.5) in West Yarmouth). McKenna most recently served as Program Director for WSTR (Star 94) in Atlanta from 2019 until earlier this year.

McKenna's return to Cape Cod marks a homecoming of sorts -- prior to his Atlanta tenure, McKenna was Director of Programming for Cape Cod Broadcasting from 2013 to 2019.

"Cape Cod's X has a unique energy and connection with the community," McKenna said. "I'm thrilled to help shape the sound of the station and continue its tradition of entertaining, engaging, and inspiring listeners every day."

A native of Boston, McKenna's programming career spans more than three decades. He previously held key roles at heritage CHRs such as WXKS-FM (Kiss 108) and WZOU Boston, served as PD at WWKX (Hot 106) Providence, WQSX (Star 93.7), WMKK (93.7 Mike-FM), and WBMX (Mix 98.5) in Boston, and led operations for Cumulus Media's Worcester cluster.

WGTX Owner and President Gary Hanna welcomed McKenna to the team, stating, "Adding Jerry McKenna to our team as Program Director is another great step towards our mission of bringing local communities together through our love of music. WGTX looks forward to building more excitement for our Cape Cod community."
