FNR's Guy Benson Shares Skin Cancer Diagnosis

FOX News Radio host and contributor Guy Benson revealed on "The Guy Benson Show" that he was recently diagnosed with an early-stage malignant melanoma, which has since been successfully removed.

During Thursday's broadcast, Benson explained that doctors discovered the cancer after he noticed changes in a mole on his abdomen and scheduled a dermatology appointment. Following a biopsy, he was diagnosed with an invasive malignant melanoma, but said doctors told him it was caught "as early as possible."

"The good news was that it was extremely early," Benson said. "They took it out, and thankfully, the pathology came back showing they got everything. No further treatment is needed."

Benson detailed the removal and recovery process, adding that the experience prompted him to go public in hopes of raising awareness about the importance of skin checks and early detection. "I wasn't inclined to share this news publicly," he said. "But ultimately decided that making the following plea is worth it: Please, please, please get skin checks. It's a small inconvenience, but it truly could save your life."

Benson also shared the five-step ABCDE system dermatologists use to identify potential melanomas - asymmetry, border irregularity, color variation, diameter, and evolution - emphasizing that the "E" for evolving was what led him to seek medical advice.

He added that his prognosis is excellent and he expects to return to regular follow-up appointments every three months. "Thank God, I noticed something and we caught it very early," Benson said. "It's now been physically excised from my body and the doctor says no further treatment is needed. It looks like I'm going to be okay, God willing."

The Guy Benson Show airs weekdays from 3-6pm ET on Fox News Radio.
