77WABC New York honored the city's law enforcement community with its annual "Back The Blue" celebration, dedicating a full day of programming to salute the men and women who serve and protect.
The event opened with a press conference where 77WABC owners John and Margo Catsimatidis announced a $1 million donation in digital advertising across all Red Apple Group digital platforms to support a law enforcement recruitment campaign. The campaign will run on the websites of Red Apple Media-owned stations including 77WABC in New York, WLIR-FM in Long Island, and WRCR in Rockland County.
Red Apple Media and 77WABC President Chad Lopez kicked off the conference, praising the commitment of New York's police officers. Sid Rosenberg, host of Sid & Friends In The Morning and a longtime NYPD supporter, served as Master of Ceremonies. Speakers included New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, DEA President Scott Munro, and NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper, among others.
The day also featured a Law Enforcement Roundtable hosted by 77WABC's Dominic Carter in the station's Studio 77, joined by John Catsimatidis, Rosenberg, Munro, former NYPD detective Mike Sapraicone, and retired NYPD sergeants Rory Capra and Peter Panuccio.
"Back The Blue is our way of thanking the men and women in law enforcement who often risk their lives to keep our families and our businesses safe," said Catsimatidis. "We owe them our respect, trust, and gratitude. We need a strong police force, and that is why I am helping them recruit the best New York City has to offer."
Highlights from the event are available on 77WABC's YouTube channel and social media platforms.
