JVC Broadcasting has launched WRXB-FM as Rebel Radio (100.1 FM), introducing a new Country format to Panama City Beach, FL that emphasizes depth and variety over tightly focused playlists. The station debuts with nearly 3,000 songs in active rotation, drawing from country music spanning the 1960s through the mid-2010s.
Company executives describe the approach as a multi-generation country sound designed to reflect how listeners consume music, rather than limiting programming to a single era or narrow definition of the format.
"Rebel Radio is about freedom," said JVC Broadcasting CEO John Caracciolo, citing independence from small playlists and rigid corporate formulas. Program Director Randy Gardner said the expansive library was built intentionally, noting that country fans continue to value music from across multiple decades.
Market Manager John Griffo added that Rebel Radio aligns with JVC's broader strategy of local decision-making and fewer programming restrictions, positioning the station as a contrast to more standardized corporate radio outlets.
Rebel Radio represents the final step in JVC's recent format changes in the Panama City market, though the company hinted additional projects may be forthcoming.
