America250 has launched a 100-day countdown to the Fourth of July, outlining plans for a nationwide celebration tied to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The congressionally chartered nonprofit, America250, announced the first wave of "America's Block Party" events set for July 3-4, designed as synchronized celebrations across the country featuring live music, community gatherings, and a unified national broadcast.
Chair Rosie Rios said the effort aims to scale the traditional neighborhood block party into what organizers describe as the largest coordinated Independence Day celebration in U.S. history.
Five host locations were revealed for the inaugural events. In New York, Times Square will feature a rare July 3 ball drop ahead of Independence Day. Los Angeles will host a major concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, while Milwaukee's Summerfest will serve as an official block party site with a lineup of national touring acts. Additional events are planned at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and in Charleston, South Carolina, which will stage a large-scale waterfront fireworks display.
America250 also announced a partnership with iHeartMedia as the official audio partner of the semiquincentennial. The collaboration will deliver a nationwide audio experience across broadcast radio, streaming, and digital platforms, allowing Americans to tune into a shared soundtrack of celebrations.
In addition to attending official events, the organization is encouraging local participation by inviting communities to register and host their own block parties using digital toolkits provided through its website.
Music will play a central role in the celebration. Producer Emilio Estefan is leading the "America's Soundtrack" initiative, which will feature new and reimagined songs tied to the anniversary. As part of the kickoff, Kool & The Gang will release a new version of its hit "Celebration."
The campaign also introduces "Giving 4th," an initiative encouraging Americans to incorporate charitable giving into Independence Day observances. Organizers say the goal is to make July 4, 2026, the largest single day of giving in U.S. history.
Additional details, including ticketing and more host cities, will be announced in the coming months.
