Radioservers has introduced a native Windows desktop application designed to give radio stations a branded, installable presence on listeners' computers, positioning the product as a new way to capture at-work listening.
The app resides in the Windows taskbar and system tray, allowing users to access a station's live stream with a single click, even when a browser is closed. It can auto-start with Windows, display now-playing information and song history, and integrate station news via a WordPress RSS feed. The platform also supports ad placement through a station's own ad server and can be distributed via direct download or the Microsoft Store.
Founder Bob Thornton said the desktop audience has been "largely overlooked" as stations have focused on mobile apps, noting that browser-based players are easily closed or forgotten during daily computer use.
Radioservers is positioning the Windows app as a differentiator for broadcasters looking to strengthen listener engagement and recover time spent on streaming services. Standard features include auto-reconnect streaming, system tray controls, customizable layouts, full branding, and persistent volume settings.
The company is offering the app for a one-time development fee of $750 with a $20 monthly maintenance cost, which includes development, branding, and distribution support.
In addition, Radioservers announced expanded native app development for connected TV platforms, including Roku, Google TV, and Apple TV. Each app supports live streaming, now-playing displays, and station branding, with submissions handled by the company.
With the expansion, Radioservers now provides app development across iOS, Android, Windows, Roku, Google TV, and Apple TV. Stations can bundle multiple platforms, including an "Everything" package covering all five platforms for a discounted rate.
All apps are custom-built for individual stations and owned by the broadcaster upon delivery, with no recurring SaaS fees beyond hosting and ad-serving services.
