Cumulus Media has promoted Kathy "KB" Brown to Vice President of Urban Formats, expanding her responsibilities to include programming oversight for the company's 40 Urban-formatted radio stations nationwide. The promotion is effective immediately.

In her new role, Brown will serve as a senior programming leader, overseeing Cumulus Media's Urban Mainstream, Urban AC, Classic Hip Hop and Gospel formats. She will also provide programming guidance and support to the company's Urban stations across the country.

Brown, who joined Cumulus Media in 2017, is based in Charleston, SC, and will retain her current responsibilities as Program Director and on-air personality for WWWZ-FM (Z93 JAMZ) and WMGL-FM (Magic 107.3).

"By virtue of her veteran major-market leadership skills and perennial high achievement, KB became the clear choice of both our programming leaders and her peers in the Cumulus Urban fleet," said Cumulus Media Chief Programming Officer Brian Philips. "Kathy already wears much programming responsibility gracefully and successfully in her Charleston role and in the region. This confirms our trust in her proven steady guidance and her stellar reputation within Cumulus."

Before joining Cumulus, Brown served as Program Director and on-air personality for iHeartMedia's Urban KMJM-FM and KATZ-FM in St. Louis. She previously held the position of Assistant Program Director at CBS Radio's WVEE-FM (V103) in Atlanta.

Her career also includes serving as Vice President and Regional Program Director and Operations Manager for Radio One's seven-station cluster serving Washington, DC, and Baltimore.

"I am excited to join the Cumulus senior content leadership team," Brown said. "I am fortunate to support a stellar group of Urban programmers who oversee legendary stations. We will continue our legacy of excellence."
