NorthStar Purchases 75% Stake in Heartland Group


NorthStar Properties, headed by Jim Coursolle, has agreed to purchase a 75% interest in Heartland Communications Group for $700,000. Under the deal, NorthStar will assume control of eight Wisconsin outlets, including WATW-AM, WBSZ-FM, WJJH-FM and WNXR-FM/Ashland; WERL-AM and WRJO-FM/Eagle River; and WNBI-AM and WCQM-FM/Park Falls. The agreement also includes WIKB-AM and FM/Iron River, MI.

Coursolle also owns a stake in Armada Media, which owns 27 stations in seven Midwestern states. Armada also operates eight stations in Kansas through a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA).
