Alpha Media Closes on Sale of Six Outlets in Bluefield WV

Alpha Media has closed on its sale of six radio outlets in Bluefield, WV, to First Media Services. Included in the deal were 5kW WHIS-AM (1410), 1kw WKEZ-AM (1240), 100kW WHAJ-FM (104.7), 8.6kW WHQX-FM (107.7), 0.3kW WHKX-FM (106.3) and 0.3kW WKOY-FM (100.9). Alpha Media, is an Oregon-based company headed by Bob Proffitt. It continues to own 213 stations in 46 markets. First Media Services is a West Virginia-based company headed by Managing Partner Bob Spencer.
Spencer said, "We feel extremely blessed and honored to have the torch passed to us from well-respected former owners, including Mike Shott and the Shott Family, and David Benjamin of Triad Broadcasting Company. In my opinion, these stations have one of the best and most talented staffs in the region. Many, of whom, have worked there for over two and even three decades. It's an amazing opportunity to continue great radio and first-class customer service throughout our corner of the Virginias."
Kalil & Co. brokered the transaction for both parties.
