The board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the steward of the federal government's investment in public broadcasting, unanimously re-elected Bruce Ramer and Patricia Cahill to serve one-year terms as chair and vice chair, respectively.

"During this time of divisiveness in our country, our local public media stations remain necessary to protect democracy and build healthy communities. The need for accurate journalism and information, which public media provides across the country, is essential for our national conversation, upon which democracy relies," said Ramer. "It is my honor to continue serving during this critical juncture, and I thank my fellow board members for their service and for the confidence they have bestowed upon me."

"I want to thank the CPB board for their dedicated service and their vote of support," added Cahill. "We take our responsibilities to safeguard public media service for all Americans very seriously and consider it a privilege to support the values and goals of our local and national public media organizations."

Ramer is an attorney and partner at Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, a firm specializing in entertainment and media matters, and was named one of the top 100 lawyers in California. He joined the board of Southern California public television station KCET in 1992 and was its board chair from 2001-2003. He was originally appointed to the CPB Board in 2008 and previously served as chair from 2010 to 2012 and vice chair from 2016 to 2018 prior to being reelected as Chair.

Cahill, who has worked in public radio for more than 40 years, is serving her second term on the CPB Board. She previously served as board vice chair 2011-2012 and chair from 2012 to 2014. Cahill retired as general manager of KCUR-FM, the public radio station at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, in 2012. Prior to her 25 years of service at KCUR, she worked as a reporter, producer, program director, news director and general manager of KMUW-FM at Wichita State University, where she was also an instructor in speech communications and journalism. Cahill has also served on the board of directors for NPR.
