Eleven members of the House of Representatives and two Senators have added their support to a resolution opposing "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA), which signals members of Congress's opposition to any potential legislation that imposes new performance royalties on broadcast radio stations for music airplay, now has 198 co-sponsors in the House and 24 in the Senate.

Adding their support recently for the Local Radio Freedom Act in the House are Reps. Dan Bishop (R-NC-9), Sanford Bishop (D-GA-2), Bob Good (R-VA-5), Andy Harris (R-MD-1), Ronny Jackson (R-TX-13), David Kustoff (R-TN-8), Gregory Meeks (D-NY-5), Betty McCollum (D-MN-4), Dan Newhouse (R-WA-4), Albio Sires (D-NJ-8), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX-24). Adding their support for the resolution in the Senate are Sens. Richard Burr (R-NC) and Tom Cotton (R-AR).

Reps. Kathy Castor (D-FL-14) and Steve Womack (R-AR-3) are the principal cosponsors of the Local Radio Freedom Act in the House of Representatives. Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and John Barrasso (R-WY) are the lead cosponsors of a companion resolution in the Senate.
