Johnson Broadcast to Acquire Two in North Carolina

Johnson Broadcast Ventures has agreed to sell 5kW WMPM-AM (1270) and 0.2kw W232DO (94.3), licensed to Smithfield, NC to Gorilla Broadcasting NC for $220,000. Both stations are located in Johnston County within the Raleigh-Durham radio market. The format of the stations has been Black Gospel.
The buyer's principal is Jose Steven Lara, who has an interest in WNMB-AM in North Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as W255BZ in Myrtle Beach, W272CV in Myrtle Beach and W279EH in North Myrtle Beach. Lara is also a principal in the ownership of WLEL-FM in Ellaville, GA.
The seller's principal is Jimmy Johnson who has been active in North Carolina radio for a number of years.
The deal was brokered by Dick Kozacko of Kozacko Media Services.
