JVC Broadcasting Expands into Panama City with Magic Buy

JVC Broadcasting has greed to acquire four stations in Panama City, FL, from Magic Broadcasting, marking a significant expansion of the company's footprint along the Florida Panhandle. The deal includes CHR WILN-FM (105.9), Classic Country WWLY-FM (100.1), Talk WYOO-FM (101.1), and Rock WYYX-FM (97.7), which will now be operated alongside JVC's existing cluster in Fort Walton Beach.

The move reflects JVC's commitment to "radio for Main Street, not Wall Street," emphasizing local programming, community involvement, and support for small businesses.

"This is an exciting new chapter for JVC and for radio in Northwest Florida," said John Griffo, who will lead the expanded operations as Market Manager for both Fort Walton Beach and Panama City. "We don't see it as just expanding -- we see it as an opportunity to continue what we've already been doing: focusing on the local listener by bringing high-quality, engaging, and fresh programming ideas to Panama City."

Matt Stone, Director of Programming for JVC Fort Walton Beach, will also oversee programming in the Panama City market. "We've been doing it differently and local in Fort Walton, and now we're bringing that same vibe to Panama City," said Stone. "We're out to make radio fun again -- live, local, and actually about the people who live here in PCB."

JVC Broadcasting President and CEO John Caracciolo stressed that this is not a typical corporate expansion. "This isn't a corporate merger. This is a local broadcaster investing in local communities," he said. "We believe in radio that serves the neighborhoods we live in, not just the bottom line."

Transition efforts are already underway, with no interruption to current programming. JVC says its focus in Panama City will be on enhancing local content and community engagement as it brings its brand of personality-driven broadcasting to the new market.
