In a post on its web site, former K-Love personality Jon Rivers explains why he and his wife, Sherry, left the network so abruptly last spring. As it turns out, he was suffering from an addiction to prescription painkillers. Rivers got hooked after experiencing severe headaches several years ago. His wife intervened and got him counseling for the addiction.
"For some time now I have slowly and gradually walked down a dark and deadly road," said Rivers. "Our quick departure from K-Love was unfortunate, but was really the only way for Sherri to fully get my attention. K-Love has stood by us and we continue to be great friends."
Rivers doesn't mention future plans in the post.
