WTEM (ESPN 980)/D.C. Teams with Joe Theismann


WTEM-AM (ESPN 980)/Washington, DC, the flagship of the Washington Redskins, adds veteran sportscaster and legendary Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann to its roster of air talent for the upcoming NFL football season. "The Joe Theismann Show" will debut the day after the first Redskins preseason game on August 14 from 8-10am, its regular slot throughout the Redskins season. Theismann will be joined in-studio by ESPN 980 host Kevin Sheehan.

As a sports broadcaster, Theismann's helped call Super Bowl XIX in 1985 for ABC alongside Frank Gifford and Don Meredith. Theismann served as a color commentator on ESPN's Sunday Night Football telecasts from 1988 to 2005, and on their Monday Night Football coverage in 2006.

Theismann commented, "I am extremely excited for this opportunity to do a show about the Washington Redskins and Redskins fans. And for those of you who don't think I'm the voice of reason, I look forward to having a conversation with you."

VP/Operations Dennis Glasgow adds, "To say that ESPN 980 is excited to have Joe on our team is an understatement. Having the first Redskins quarterback to win a Super Bowl is a difference- maker for the station and our great listeners. Joe will bring his outspoken perspective and intimate knowledge of the game to our airwaves, not to mention the most passionate fan base in the NFL."

Theismann will also be a frequent guest on other ESPN 980 shows throughout the week.
