Beth McDonald Celebrates 30 Years on Phoenix Radio

Beth McDonald, long-time morning show personality on AC KESZ-FM (99.9 KEZ)/Phoenix celebrates her 30th anniversary on Phoenix airwaves this week. She began her stint on 99.9 handling news for then 99.9 KLZI-FM (KLZI became KESZ in 1998) and worked with a succession of morning show co-host until McDonald was named the morning host, making her the first woman in Phoenix radio to host her own radio morning show.

In 1990, 12 News weathercaster Bill Austin joined McDonald and formed the popular Beth and Bill Show. Beth and Bill remained a team for nearly 20 years until Bill's passing in June, 2010.

McDonald said, "These 30 years have gone by so quickly, it's almost like the time has been a dream... which is what the job has been to me... a dream job. I've been so fortunate to work with many wonderful people, including Bill Austin, who was with me for 20 of the 30 years. I really want to thank my listeners who have been so supportive and loyal... without them, I would not have been able to do this for as long as I have. I lift my glass to you all and look forward to what the future will bring!"

"Beth's commitment to The Valley is crossing into its 4th decade. She's made an impact on many families who have had her as their companion for their morning commute day after day. She truly is, the 'Queen of the City," added VP/Programming Steve Geofferies.
