Veteran Chicago radio personality Jonathon Brandmeier (aka Johnny B) debuted his new talk radio show Monday on WLS-AM. The show marks the return of Brandmeier's brand of talk radio to the Chicago airwaves, live weekdays from 9-11am. Westwood One, the national facing arm of Cumulus, has signed a partnership with Brandmeier and will syndicate the show nationally.
Most recently, he hosted mornings on crosstown Talk rival WGN-AM. Previously, Brandmeier handled mornings at Emmis-owned Classic Rock WLUP-FM returning to The Loop in 2005 where he was a mainstay from 1983-1997. Before that, he did wakeups at KCBS-FM/Los Angeles.
WLS OM/PD Peter Bolger said, "Chicago loves its personalities. With a line up including "Big" John Howell, Rush Limbaugh, Steve Dahl, and now Jonathon Brandmeier, WLS-AM can rightfully claim the position as Chicago's Talk Leader."
Brandmeier added, "This is extremely exciting for all of us at The Jonathon Brandmeier Show. Chicago listeners are the best -- intensely spirited, animated, and opinionated. And, personally, I finally get to say the radio call letters I've been practicing to say since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin -- W-L-S."
