The teenage son of syndicated radio host Delilah, Zachariah Miguel Rene-Ortega, has committed suicide after a long battle with depression. In a Facebook post on Saturday Delilah Rene, 58, wrote: "[Zachary] was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now. My heart is broken beyond repair and I cannot fathom how to go on."
Zack was one of Delilah's 13 children - 10 of whom are adopted. In a January Facebook post, Delilah had revealed that Zack was autistic. She will be taking a leave of absence from her syndicated radio show and said, "Please pray for my beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression." She also shared a photo of the 1-800-273-8255 phone number to reach the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
Radio Online wishes to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to Delilah and her family.
