Alex Silverman Named KYW Philadelphia Program Director

Entercom appoints Alex Silverman to the role of Program Director for All News KYW-AM/Philadelphia, effective September 24. He previously held the role of Assistant Director of News and Programming for sister WCBS-AM (Newsradio 880)/New York. Prior to joining WCBS in 2011, Silverman was a reporter and anchor at KIRO-FM/Seattle from 2010-2011, and from 2008-2010 he was a reporter and morning news anchor at WSYR-AM/Syracuse. He's also served as an adjunct instructor at Fordham University, where he designed a course titled "Social Media for Journalists."

"We are thrilled to welcome Alex to the KYW Newsradio family," said Entercom Philadelphia Senior VP/Market Manager David Yadgaroff. "He's a great fit to lead this iconic Philadelphia brand into an exciting next chapter."

"KYW Newsradio is the beating heart of Philadelphia," added Silverman. "I'm incredibly excited and honored to lead the top-notch team of news professionals who make it vital, both now and into the future."

Silverman joined Entercom in 2011 as an anchor for WCBS and has since helped lead the station's coverage of major news events in New York and around the country, including Hurricane Sandy, the Boston Marathon bombings and the Orlando nightclub shooting. He received a 2018 National Edward R. Murrow Award for his coverage of the transportation crisis in New York.
