Longtime Detroit air personality Mike Clark of the "Drew and Mike Show" morning program has died. He was 63. Clark co-hosted mornings with Drew Lane on Rock WRIF-FM from December, 1991, until it was canceled in May, 2013, reports Crain's Detroit Business. The announcement was made on Clark's Facebook page on Tuesday that he had died in his sleep overnight.
Lane went on to launch a weekday podcast entitled "DM&M" with former "Drew & Mike" producers Mike Wolters and Marc Fellhauer. CDB reported that after briefly returning to radio, in 2016 Lane created the "Drew and Mike Podcast" that Clark occasionally joined.
"He had some medical issues the past couple years but I'm still very surprised because we were texting yesterday and he was in typically good humor," Lane told The Detroit News.
In a statement on its website, WRIF wrote in part, "We thank him for his creativity, sense of humor and ability to help put a smile on our faces on our morning commute. He will remain fondly in our memories. RIP."
