Entercom/San Francisco Unveils KCBS All News Brand Refresh
RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, April 2, 2019 |
Entercom has revealed an audio and visual refresh of "KCBS All News" airing on KCBS-AM and KFRC-FM in San Francisco. The news station debuted enhanced audio imaging featuring female voiceover artists Randy Thomas and Roberta Solomon as co-voices of the station. KCBS subsequently unveiled a new logo, marking the first visual refresh in over a decade for the Bay Area's only 24-hour live and local multimedia news outlet.
"KCBS is an iconic news brand and it's only fitting that our new image is of an equal caliber," said Entercom San Francisco Senior VP/Market Manager Gregory Nemitz. "These changes are part of the KCBS evolution that elevates our connection with our broad Bay Area audience."
"I am incredibly proud to be a part of this legendary radio station serving San Francisco's Bay Area," said Thomas. "To be teamed with another woman to brand KCBS is an honor."
Thomas' voiceover highlights include The Oscars, The Super Bowl, The Emmy Awards, The Tony Awards and The SAG Awards. Thomas currently serves as an advisory board member of the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab in Los Angeles, where she mentors aspiring voice artists.
"It's so exciting to be part of the brand innovation for KCBS," said Solomon. "It's an honor to be part of this iconic station's evolution, but especially so to shape its sound with another woman."
Solomon has imaged hundreds of radio stations throughout her career and has served as the sponsorship voice of the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network for fourteen seasons. She has voiced promos for every major television network, Emmy-winning documentaries for National Geographic and Smithsonian Channel, and is the branding voice of TV stations in multiple markets.
In addition to its award-winning news broadcasts, KCBS recently launched original and local podcasts, including "10Q With Stan and Susan," "How to Bay Area," "The Crisis Next Door," and "The News Vault." The station will celebrate its 51st year as an all-News station in May.
