Minnesota Athletics Extends Agreement with iHeartMedia

The University of Minnesota Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Gopher Sports Properties, announced today an extension of its broadcast agreement with iHeartMedia Minneapolis, effective through the 2022-2023 athletic season.

iHeartMedia Minneapolis's KFAN FM 100.3, 1130 KTLK-FM / FM 103.5 and KFAN Plus 96.7 FM will continue to serve as the Gophers' flagship radio stations through the 2022-2023 athletic season. In addition, the new broadcast agreement term is concurrent with the 2019-2020 collegiate athletics season and will entail coverage of select Olympic sports as well as football, men's and women's basketball, men's hockey and coaches' shows, including "Gopher Football Weekly With P.J." "Fleck," "Gopher Basketball Weekly With Richard Pitino" and "The Bob Motzko Show."

Gopher football games and Fleck's seasonal show will continue to be heard on KFAN 100.3. Men's basketball will be heard primarily on 1130 KTLK-AM / FM 103.5, but a select number of games against Big Ten opponents will be broadcast on KFAN 100.3. In addition, Pitino's weekly show will air on KFAN 100.3 FM. Men's hockey games and "The Bob Motzko Show" will broadcast on 1130 KTLK-AM / FM 103.5 and women's basketball coverage will air on 96.7 KFAN Plus.

"We at iHeartMedia are thrilled to continue our broadcast partnership with University of Minnesota Athletics and the Golden Gophers," said Jeff Tyler, Division President for iHeartMedia Minneapolis. "This is an exciting time for Gophers athletics, as well as the many alumni and fans who listen to and sponsor the broadcasts. iHeartMedia is looking forward to the big things on the horizon for the student-athletes, teams and coaches."

"iHeartMedia Minneapolis has been an outstanding broadcast partner. All of the additional coverage added to this new agreement made for an easy decision to continue working together," said Greg Gerlach, Vice President and General Manager of Gopher Sports Properties, the locally based Learfield IMG College team. "We're excited to keep the extended live game coverage, as well as add some Olympic sports broadcasts in this new term."
