The Broadcasters Foundation of America raised over $250,000 on Monday to help broadcasters in need during its 2019 Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, NY. More than 175 broadcasters and celebrities turned out to help support broadcasters who have experienced terrible loss due to illness or unforeseen disaster. Since its inception, the annual fundraising event has generated more than $5 million for financially afflicted broadcasters and their families.

"The money raised from yesterday's event comes at a time when we are helping more broadcasters and their families than ever before," stated Broadcasters Foundation President Jim Thompson. "This year, we will distribute $1.5 million in aid to those in our industry who need it most," Thompson added. "The Celebrity Golf Tournament is one of our biggest fundraisers, and we are grateful to our sponsors and players."

Disney Advertising Sales Local Senior Vice President Adam Monaco served as this year's chair. Sponsors were ABC Owned Television Stations, Nielsen, the Connors Family, Cox Media Group, Empire Merchants, Guinness, Diageo, and Meiomi Wines, NBC Owned Television Stations, BMI, ESPN, Knight Media Group, and Pepe Auto Group.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America has distributed millions of dollars in aid to broadcasters who have lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease or unforeseen tragedy. Personal donations can be made to the Foundation's Guardian Fund. Corporate contributions are accepted through the Angel Initiative, and bequests can be made through the Foundation's Legacy Society.
