Benztown Announces Q4's Mentorship Program Honoree

Benztown and The National Radio Talent System have announced the selection of the Benztown Mentorship Program's fourth quarter mentee, Nick Tehrani, graduate of the KBA Radio Talent Institute at Western Kentucky University. Radio professionals Fred Jacobs, President of Jacobs Media Strategies, and Bob Lawrence, VP of Programming, Saga Communications, Inc., will personally mentor Tehrani in their Detroit-area offices and studios for two days in October. Jacobs and Lawrence will also mentor Tehrani virtually throughout the fall academic semester.

The Benztown Mentorship Program offers one-to-one mentoring to select students who are accepted into The Radio Talent Institutes of the National Radio Talent System™, on an ongoing basis, with structured mentoring opportunities during the spring and fall semesters.

"I am overwhelmed by the fact that I have been given the chance to push my broadcasting career to the next level through this mentorship and the chance to learn from Fred and Bob, two of the radio industry's most respected professionals," said Tehrani. "I want to extend a huge thanks to The National Radio Talent System™, for believing in my talent and drive to succeed. Also, without the support of Benztown, I wouldn't have had the chance to be a part of The Radio Talent Institute or be awarded this opportunity. Thank you, Chachi and the Benztown team, for investing in our bright future. I hope I can make all of you proud and hopefully be on the other side one day, helping someone like myself. "

Dave "Chachi" Denes, Benztown President, said, "We're incredibly impressed with Nick and are thrilled to help make this special opportunity available to him, as one of the bright and talented young broadcasters who will help drive our industry into the future."

Dan Vallie, President, The National Radio Talent System added, "Reflect back to back to when you were getting in the business and imagine the excitement of what it would have been like to have the opportunity to be mentored by Fred Jacobs and Bob Lawrence. That is what Nick will actually experience through this mentorship, thanks to Chachi and Benztown and of course to Fred and Bob. Working with so many forward-thinking people makes discovering and preparing these future broadcasters even more exciting and rewarding."

Fred Jacobs, President of Jacobs Media Strategies, noted, "As radio broadcasters, we owe it to our industry and the next generation to pay it forward. But I'm secretly hoping to learn new things from Nick."

Bob Lawrence, VP of Programming, Saga Communications, Inc., added, "It's truly an honor to be involved and have a role. Anytime we have the opportunity to offer a young person as passionate as Nick some inspiration and education, then we play our part in passing on a torch that still burns strongly in the industry. I'm very much looking forward to learning what excites this next generation!"
