WTOP Still Radio's King of Billing
RADIO ONLINE | Thursday, November 12, 2020 |
The unprecedented year that is 2020 is almost over and we're just getting new data from BIA Advisory Services regarding what now seems like a distant memory - radio's billing scorecard for 2019. It will surprise no one that Washington DC's WTOP was radio's top billing station for a fifth consecutive year, billing $69.8 million, nearly $1 million more than the Hubbard all-news dynamo took in during 2018.
Again WTOP surpassed stations in much larger markets with bigger revenue bases including KIIS-FM, iHeartMedia's Los Angeles CHR, which repeated its second place finish with $59.9 million. In truth, all of 2019's top billers were the same as in 2018 - and in the exact same order - with the exception of Boton's WBZ at No. 10.
Here's the list:
- WTOP (Hubbard) Washington, DC - $69.8 million
- KIIS-FM (iHeart) Los Angeles - $59.9 million
- KBIG-FM (iHeart) Los Angeles - $45.2 million
- WLTW-FM (iHeart) New York City - $44 million
- WHTZ-FM (iHeart) New York City - $42 million
- WFAN (Entercom) New York City - $41.4 million
- WINS-AM (Entercom) New York City - $40.3 million
- WCBS-AM (Entercom) New York City - $39.2 million
- WBBM-AM - (Entercom) Chicago - $39 million
- WBZ-FM (Beasley) - Boston $36.9 million
