WHBC (News/Talk 1480) and WHBC-FM (Mix 94.1)/Canton's Aultcare Wish-a-thon to benefit Wishes Can Happen passed the $2 million mark in its 15th year. With almost $230,000 raised during the 36-hour wish-a-thon this year (August 11-12), Stark County residents once again came out to support the kids and their families.

Market Manager Larry Gawthrop said, "It is amazing it took 10 years of the event to reach the $1,000,000 mark and only 5 more to surpass $2,000,000. He says this was truly a team effort and we should all be very proud of the many lives we will impact over the next year(s)."

The WHBC-AM and FM teams broadcast live for 36 hours straight from a tent at Springbrook Plaza in Canton taking donations by phone, online and in person. They've helped grant thousands of wishes to children with serious, life-threatening illnesses over the past 15 years.

Wishes Can Happen is a local charity that grants wishes to seriously ill children in the Northeast Ohio area. The money stays local. They are celebrating their 40th year serving the community this year.
