KKFI/Kansas City Host Killed in Chiefs Parade Shooting

Community Radio KKFI-FM/Kansas City confirmed on Wednesday evening that "Taste of Tejano" host Lisa Lopez died following the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs parade and rally at Union Station on Wednesday. Lopez was one of at least 23 people and nine children were shot moments after the rally ended. She was in mid-40s and the mother of two adult children. Friends said she died while undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

"It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs' rally," wrote the station shared on Facebook. "Our hearts and prayers are with her family."

KKFI continued, "This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community."
