Asheville Media Group (AMG) launches 828newsNOW.com, a new local news platform focused on serving as the community connection for everyone living and working in Western North Carolina. AMG is known for offering a variety of radio outlets including 105.9 The Mountain, Mix 96.5, 98.1 The River, WISE Sports Radio 1310AM, 105.5 The Outlaw, Rewind 100.3 and Pure Oldies 97.3. In addition to their music services, AMG has a strong history of supporting community events and its annual Best of Asheville contest.

"Asheville Media Group recognizes the significance of staying connected. Introducing a news division seamlessly aligns with the community engagement we have consistently offered as broadcasters. I'm excited to further connect with people through 828newsNOW.com," said Market President Tom Davis.

"The 828NewsNOW mission is to provide timely, relevant, trusted, unbiased local news and information, for free," continued Davis. "828NewsNOW strives to be the primary source for news, events, and impactful stories that resonate with Western North Carolina residents, nurturing a strong sense of community."

In a time when news sources are downsizing and paywalls limit access to important information, 828newsNOW.com is providing its content free of charge to all users.

"Making sure everyone has the same access to information is the key to keeping people engaged in the community", said 828newsNOW.com Editor in Chief M.E. Sprengelmeyer. "Limiting access can lead to detachment and division. We're going to do our best to give people the info they need, right here, right now "" and without a pay wall, so everyone has a chance to be in-the-know."
