KFI to Air ''Sex, Drugs, and Social Media'' News Special
RADIO ONLINE | Monday, April 8, 2024 |
KFI-AM/Los Angeles will present an in-depth look at the dangers parents are facing when it comes to their children and social media. According to the station, social media platforms and apps have streamlined access to deadly drugs and opened the door for kids to become victims of online harassment and sextortion. Victims of sextortion have been driven to suicide, while others have died from an overdose of fentanyl disguised as routine drugs easily found on apps and social media.
KFI's Steve Gregory with KTTV-TV (FOX 11)'s Araksya Karapetyan welcome agents from the DEA and Homeland Security Investigations, along with the LA County Sheriff's Department's Cyber Crimes Bureau, to offer parents the harsh reality of the digital world. Parents of those who have died from fentanyl will also be a part of the discussion, as well as a digital wellness advocate.
"Sex, Drugs, and Social Media" will be taped live before a studio audience at the iHeartMedia Performance Studio in Burbank. Part one airs April 14 at 2pm PT and will focus on the sextortion-related topics while part two, which airs April 21 at 2pm PT, focuses on the drug-related topics. The show will also be posted on the iHeartRadio app as an on-demand program. The special will be videotaped for playback at KFI-AM640.COM and KFI-AM 640's YouTube Channel.
The four-hour program is produced by the team of Steve Gregory and Jacob Gonzalez, with associate producer Richie Quintero.
