Law&Crime Releases New Podcast Series on YNW Melly Trial

Legal and true crime network Law&Crime announces the next installment in its trial-focused podcast productions with the release of "Murder on My Mind," available on Wondery+. The new series, hosted by Paula Barros of Cold Case Files, details the multiple trials of rap prodigy Jamell "YNW Melly" Demons and a heated courtroom controversy that past lyrics from his hit song of the same name ought to be allowed into evidence as proof of murderous intent.

In the 2023 trial that garnered mainstream attention and launched the viral "Free Melly" social media movement, Demons faced two charges of first-degree murder for the shooting deaths of his long-time friends and music partners, Anthony "YNW Sakchaser" Williams and Christopher "YNW Juvy" Thomas. Demons is set to face trial yet again in 2024 after the first trial ended in a hung jury.

The initial four-episode series will explore the ins and outs of Demons' early rise to fame, as well as detailed insight into the night in which prosecutors argue the young star killed his childhood best friends to seize the spotlight and capitalize on their joint success for himself. Through key interviews with investigators, prosecutors and friends and family of the YNW group, the podcast attempts to uncover the truth behind Demons' claims that Williams and Thomas were murdered in a drive-by shooting, not by himself but by jealous musicians also in their circle.

Two bonus episodes will also air after the conclusion of the second trial, currently set for later this year.
