Report: Michael Kay Show Ending Run on ESPN New York

After ESPN New York left its 98.7 FM signal for 880 ESPN in August, the station's longest-running show, "The Michael Kay Show," is reportedly concluding. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, hosts Michael Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg are expected to wrap up their program but will remain part of the station's weekday lineup. Kay declined to comment but noted that any future developments would be discussed on air.

Under the new arrangement, Kay is reportedly set to host a solo midday show from 1-3pm ET. La Greca and Rosenberg are slated to continue at the station, collaborating with Alan Hahn, who currently hosts a midday show with Bart Scott. The final airing of "The Michael Kay Show" is scheduled for Friday, December 13, with the new programming beginning on Monday, January 6.

Kay, who has been a fixture in the afternoon drive for 22 years, has considered other time slots in the past, and ESPN reportedly made substantial financial efforts to retain him. However, sources cited by The Athletic suggest that the offer to keep him in the afternoon was not compelling enough. The future of the YES Network simulcast for Kay's new show and the afternoon slot is still under discussion.

The reshuffled lineup is also expected to move Bart Scott's show to a new 10am-1pm slot, alongside Dan Graca, shifting Mike Greenberg's national program away from 880 AM. Morning drive hosts Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg are set to continue in their current roles. As of now, neither ESPN New York nor Good Karma Brands has officially announced the end of "The Michael Kay Show" or confirmed the new programming changes.
